Boda LGTB íntima: Bea & Bea

An LGBTQ wedding in Tarragona

Bea and Bea at their intimate LGBTQ wedding in Castellvell del Camp

Hi everyone! Today I want to introduce you to Bea and Bea, two women who got married on March 7th, 2020 in Castellvell del Camp. It was an intimate LGBTQ wedding, attended by their closest family and friends.

Bea’s mum came to visit us for a small family session on the wedding day at our studio — she arrived just three days before. Luckily we had the date free, since the busy wedding season hadn’t kicked off yet.

The idea of doing the family studio photos on any given day of the year made sense. My proposal, since this was an intimate LGBTQ wedding, was to come straight to the ceremony and shoot the group photos Bea’s mum wanted after that.

That way they could also have more artistic photos of the couple, because their original idea was that guests would take pictures with phones that day. But my reply was:

Would they know how to tell a story? Could they catch the beautiful moments and make you feel something when you look at them later?

My job is to tell stories with my photos, catching moments that make the couple and their family get emotional looking back at them years later. I guess they understood we go a little beyond just a few photos, that we try to tell that story, that spark between the couple, to catch the emotions — among many other moments. In the end they decided to book us.

As wedding photographers we’re always looking for these different weddings — whether it’s a particular ceremony style, a special place, a moving story… each wedding has its own twist, and this one had one.

The LGBTQ wedding

As I mentioned, it was an intimate wedding. Bea walked in singing a song that moved Bea, her bride-to-be, to tears. Another detail that caught my eye: Bea’s grandmother was the one who brought the rings to the brides — something I hadn’t seen at any of my previous weddings, and it felt like a beautiful, meaningful touch.

End of the day

It was a beautiful, intimate wedding. All I can do is thank the brides and both families for the trust they placed in us. They even let us in on the news during the couple session: they were expecting a baby. From here, congratulations again to the couple.

A big hug,
